The "Manchester United" football club has introduced a rule limiting the wages of football players after Cristiano Ronaldo's departure. This was reported by Daily Mail.
According to the publication, the cap on the weekly salary will be set at £200,000.
The changes were called the “Ronaldo rule”, since the salary of the Portuguese footballer was significantly higher than that of other players. In 2021, it was reported that upon returning to Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo received £480,000 a week.
The new rule will affect team goalkeeper David de Gea, the publication notes. His contract with a salary of £375,000 a week will end this summer, after which the goalkeeper will proposed a new agreement that will fit into the limit.
BAGNET recalls Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United with the consent of the parties at the end of November 2022. In December, he signed a contract with the Saudi club “Al-Nasr”. The agreement is valid until June 2025.
