Man stabbed in downtown Montreal

The suspect is said to have fled on foot after the attack, the motive for which is still unknown.

A young man is in critical condition in a Montreal hospital after being stabbed early Tuesday evening in the city center.

The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) has still not made any arrests in connection with this event.

The attack allegedly occurred around 7 p.m. a stone's throw from the old Montreal Forum, at the intersection of Boulevard de Maisonneuve Ouest and Atwater Avenue.

The SPVM reports that the victim, a 25-year-old man, was located in hospital with a significant upper body injury.

The suspect is said to have fled on foot after the attack, the motive for which is still unknown. The two people apparently know each other.

The victim has a criminal record, according to the police.

A security perimeter was erected near the scene of the attack.
