The Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) will look into the violent event that occurred Tuesday morning in the district of Chicoutimi during where Saguenay police officers opened fire on a man.

The event in question provoked a large police operation Tuesday morning on rue des Hospitalières, not far from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi (UQAC).

According to witnesses and images from a video viewed by Radio-Canada, a shirtless man walking on the sidewalk was shot dead by two police officers who held him at gunpoint. It appears that the man was holding a knife in his hand and walked towards the police who fired shots.
