Man gave Russians photos of military unit – court verdict

In Vinnytsia, a native of the city of Makiivka, Donetsk region, took photos of military units and critical infrastructure. In this way, he corrected the occupiers' missile strikes. As a result, a court hearing was held.

This is stated in the court verdict published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.

Case Details

The man found an ad on Telegram, where he was offered to photograph objects in Vinnytsia for a reward.

In May 2023, he recorded the main entrance of the military unit of the Air Force of Ukraine on video. Later, the man sent it to a representative of the Russian Federation, and on the same day he received $100 on his card.

Later, the accused was supposed to record the military unit of the NGU. Upon arriving at the scene, he secretly filmed checkpoints and military personnel, informing the occupiers about the absence of tanks and equipment in the vicinity. In addition, he sent the video to the Russians. He was detained at the scene of the crime.

During his detention, the native of Donetsk confirmed that he had communicated with a representative of Russia and had filmed the video. According to him, he was looking for a job, so he agreed to the offer.

However, during the court hearing, the man did not admit his guilt.

What the court decided

A native of Makeyevka was found guilty of high treason. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
