The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba (RCMP) have charged Ryan Howard Manoakeesick, 29, with the first degree murder of his three children, his partner and a 17-year-old girl. The victims were found in three different locations near Carman on Sunday.

On Sunday, around 7:30 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of an accident near Carman. A woman was found dead at the scene. The police indicate that it was the partner of the man arrested, aged 30.

Subsequently, the RCMP Headingley received a second report near Highway 424, where officers discovered three children who had been pulled from a burning vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene. They included the couple's son, aged 4, as well as their daughters, aged 2 months and 6 years.

The 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Police officers then went to a house located in Carman, where they discovered a teenage girl dead. RCMP say she is the 30-year-old woman's 17-year-old niece.

Residents of Carman, located about 70 kilometers southeast of Winnipeg, are in shock after the events of the weekend.

I think the whole village is in shock and in mourning. It's very shocking. People need to realize that things can happen anywhere, whether it's a small town or a big city, said Suzie Stewart, who lives in Carman.

Prairie Rose School Division Superintendent Terry Osiowy posted a message, Monday, in which he sends his thoughts and most sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

Support is offered to the students of this community of #x27;a little over 3,500 people.

Crisis intervention teams are in place at the Carman high school and elementary school, which the young victims attended, the press release said.

What we feel is that everyone is probably in shock and disbelief that such a tragedy could strike our community and because of its complexity, specifies Terry Osiowy.

The Premier of Manitoba addressed Manitobans Monday in response to the Carman tragedy which left 5 dead, including three children and a teenage girl on Sunday.
