Man arrested following fire in Amos

In Amos, a fire broke out #x27;was declared in a house on Rue des Ormes, early Saturday afternoon.

The firefighters who surrendered on site around 1:15 p.m. evacuated the residence and the fire was quickly brought under control.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, certain elements suggest that the fire could be of a suspicious nature.

Moreover, the police arrested a man in his fifties at the scene who was met in the evening by SQ investigators.

The individual remains detained, and he could potentially face charges in connection with [this affair]. During the event, an armed assault was also allegedly committed and threats were made towards a person who was present in the residence. The victim was assessed by paramedics for minor injuries, but she was not transported to a hospital center, explains SQ spokesperson, Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau.
