In Zaporizhzhia, the bones of a representative of the mammoth fauna were discovered on the coast of the shallow Dnieper. They were taken to the Khortytsya National Reserve for further research and conservation.
This was announced on the Facebook page of the Khortytsya National Reserve.
The reserve noted that they received an appeal from a local resident Kostyantyn Nelipa about the discovery of large bones of an animal on the coast.
When inspecting the indicated place, the employees of the reserve discovered two bones of a representative of the mammoth fauna, namely, a humerus and a large tibia, – says the message.
During the study of the area near these bones, scientists found a shoulder blade, probably of the same animal.
This find of mammoth remains is one of the few known for the Zaporozhye region and is very important for the study and understanding of historical processes and natural transformations that took place in our region in the past – explained the employees of “Khortytsia”.
