Saturday's was recorded at a depth of 32 km about 21 km northeast of #x27;Hinatuan and was followed by a tsunami alert, which was later lifted.
The Philippine Institute of Seismology said the highest waves generated reached 0.64 meters on Mawes Island.
Swells were reported as far away as the eastern coast of Japan, where a tsunami warning was also briefly in effect.
