Mother took away little Madzia from Sosnowiec's chance for a normal life.
As the „Super Express” portal reminds, this February will mark 13 years since the crime that shocked Poland. The death of little Madzia, despite the passage of time, is still shocking and disbelieving, because the girl's chance at life was taken away by her own mother.
The case of Madzia from Sosnowiec
In February 2012, the whole of Poland was riveted by the disappearance of little Madzia from Sosnowiec. If the girl had lived, she would have celebrated her 14th birthday this year. Unfortunately, her mother took her life in the place that was her home.
The girl was born prematurely. Her condition was so serious that her father decided to baptize his daughter while still in the hospital. Church law allows for such a possibility in emergency situations when there is no priest nearby. Bartłomiej, little Madzia's father, planned to baptize his daughter in the Church. However, he was not given the chance.
Little Madzia from Sosnowiec was strangled by her own mother. Katarzyna W., however, did not immediately admit that her daughter was dead. In the media, the woman reported with tears in her eyes that someone had kidnapped her daughter. She begged for her child to be returned to her. Madzia was already dead by then. She was murdered on January 24.
She abandoned her daughter's body
After the murder, Katarzyna W. took the body daughter into the stroller and drove to the park on Żeromskiego Street. She abandoned Madzia's body in the ruins of a railway building under a pile of rubble. All of Poland hoped that the girl would be found. A large-scale search began, in which detective Krzysztof Rutkowski joined in.
He was the one who convinced Madzia's mother to confess the truth. Katarzyna W. confessed that her child was dead. Although at first she maintained that Madzia's death was the result of an unfortunate accident. However, the court did not give credence to these assurances. Katarzyna W. never admitted guilt. She is serving a 25-year prison sentence. He can only apply for early release after 20 years.
As indicated by „Super Express”, Madzia's body was laid to rest in the family grave at ul. Smutna in Sosnowiec.
