MacBooks with Intel processors are at risk of losing cryptocurrency

Former CEO and founder of Binance Changpeng Zhao reported on the existence of serious vulnerabilities in the macOS operating system.

He states that the vulnerabilities could expose users of MacBook laptops with Intel processors to the risk of losing cryptocurrency. Owners should update the OS as soon as possible.

One vulnerability is in JavaScriptCore — the JavaScript execution engine. Malicious sites could use it to execute commands without the user's knowledge, which could steal confidential information, including crypto wallet keys.

The second vulnerability concerned WebKit, which is used in the Safari browser. It allowed attackers to launch a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack by replacing legitimate pages with fraudulent ones.

Apple has already released security updates to fix these issues for iOS 18.1.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1.1, and iOS 17.7.2.
