Apple plans to release new MacBook Pro models this year, in particular with M4, M4 chips Pro and M4 Max. In addition, updates are expected for the Mac mini and iMac models. The M4 chipset, already featured in the iPad Pro, was the first chip manufactured using TSMC's second-generation 3nm process and was used in the 11- and 13-inch models. It is now expected to appear in new Mac models as well.
The launch of the new MacBook Pros is expected to be similar to the previous M3 release, when the M3 Pro and M3 Max were introduced alongside the base version. It is also predicted that updated Mac Studio and Mac Pro models with the new M4 Ultra chip will appear in 2025. The design of these models will remain unchanged.
In terms of performance, the M4 chipset shows impressive results. Apple released two versions of the M4 with different CPU and GPU cores: the top-of-the-line version with 10 cores outperforms the M2 and M3, scoring high in the Geekbench 6 tests. The more basic version with 9 cores also shows good results. However, the exact performance data of M4 and M4 Max will be known only after their official release.
