Lukashenko said he could turn off the internet in Belarus

Alexander Lukashenko said that in the event of a repeat of mass protests similar to the events of 2020, the internet in Belarus could be completely turned off.

He made this statement on November 22 during a meeting with students at the Minsk State Linguistic University, noting that the internet had already been turned off in 2020, when, according to him, the fate of the country was at stake.

Lukashenko justified his actions by saying that the decisions were made in order to preserve the state, although the 2020 elections that caused the protests were recognized as rigged by many countries and international organizations.
