Applicant for Avanza País, he spoke after being excluded from the regional and municipal elections on October 2 by the highest electoral body.
Luis Molina, candidate for Mayor of Lima for Avanza País, spoke out after being excluded from the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections by the National Election Jury (JNE) and assured that the The body “has mistreated once again” his application.
In a statement, he regretted the decision of the JNE to exclude him from the contest by the Mayor's Office of Lima based on “formalisms” over their right to be elected and the voters' right to choose.
“In this way, the JNE has become the great voter in Lima, preventing citizens from deciding who should run the capital”, he said.
“The JNE has mistreated my candidacy once again: first it voted declaring my appeal unfounded, to later declare it founded in part and, later, just issued the resolution in which I am excluded from the electoral process”, he added.< /p>
Molina also described as “unusual” that in its final resolution, the JNE has only qualified one candidate for alderman by Avanza País.
“I deplore that this decision undermines democracy and violates the right of the residents of Lima to elect and be elected freely”, he sentenced.

As recalled, the JNE decided to declare as inadmissible Luis Molina's candidacy for mayor of Lima for the Avanza País party, as well as 38 candidates for aldermen from its list .
Resolution 1417-2022-JNE confirms the decision made in the first instance by the Central Lima Special Electoral Jury that had declared inadmissible the candidacy of Molina and all his councillors.
The JNE, in second and last instance, only resolved to vary the decision in the case of councilor number 24 of the list of Avanza País, María Elena Soto Velásquez, about whom he indicated that he will be able to continue in the race for the elections on October 2 re.
