Aircraft concern Deutsche Lufthansa is preparing for more large-scale reductions in personnel and fleet than previously thought, due to the fact that hopes for the resumption of flights in full this year did not materialize.
The number of tickets reserved for October is only 10% of last year's level. According to the most recent estimate, the volume of air traffic will reach the 2019 level no earlier than the mid-2020s. On Monday, the head of the airline Karsten Spohr notified employees that their staff will be reduced by 28 thousand people, and the fleet will be reduced by 130 aircraft.
British airline British Airways plans to cut 13,000 employees. But the airline's management has yet to come to terms with the transport workers union Unite. The union and some members of parliament suspect the employer to cut up to 50% of the staff in order to renegotiate then employment contracts on less favorable terms for workers. But the head of the company Alex Cruz denied this assumption.
