Lower taxes: “The government enriches traders and deceives Senegalese consumers”

September 5, 2021 by archyde

The government of Senegal has announced the waiver of CFA Franc 47 billion in tax. But according to the former minister-adviser, Moustapha Diakhaté, with these proclaimed reductions in the tax on foodstuffs and basic necessities, the government is enriching traders and deceiving Senegalese consumers.

According to Moustapha Diakhaté, this announcement will have no impact on the basket of the housewife and on the purchasing power of the populations. The prices will not know any decrease. And inflation, which has won prices for nearly a few months, will continue to exacerbate the difficulties of the most vulnerable populations.

Instead of telling the truth to Senegalese, the government is still pouring in populism, demagoguery and propaganda to give the illusion of fighting the suffering of the people“, Believes Moustapha Diakhaté.
