The Lord of the Rings: Another Official Trailer Revealed

Fans of the Lord of the Ringsdon't know where to turn. While Amazon Prime Video will launch the second season of the series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Thursday, August 29, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced its desire to expand the universe of Peter Jackson's films. After having officially announced the start of work on The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, directed by Andy Serkis and produced by Peter Jackson, the Hollywood major has just unveiled the first trailer for the animated film The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim, by Kenji Kamiyami.

Inspired by a short passage from the Appendices of The Return of the King, the animated film will tell us the story of Helm Hammerhand, legendary king of Rohan who reigned almost 200 years before Theoden, and his daughter Hera. The trailer placed the film under the umbrella of Peter Jackson's trilogy. The War of the Rohirrim was also co-written by Philippa Boyens, co-writer of the New Zealand director's films, who this time wears the producer's hat. Very promising, the film promises to be an event for fantasy fans, who are eagerly awaiting the return of Middle Earth to the cinema.

But if the French and English trailers are the same, the Japanese public has been privileged, with a trailer specially designed for them. The opportunity for us to discover other images from the film, in particular a shot in which we can see Saruman. The War of the Rohirrim should indeed tell us how the Istari obtained the right to sit in the fortress of Isengard, which they will occupy (in the films) until their assassination by Grema Wormtongue. (We recall that in the novel, Grema kills Saruman in the Shire, which he has taken over.)

In any case, these new images only increase our impatience to discover the film The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim. As a reminder, the film distributed by Warner Bros. will be available in French theaters from December 11, 2024, closing a busy end of year.
