The little girl apparently went beyond the fence to end up in the river.
This sector of the river has imposing rapids. Geography makes research difficult, as explained by a spokesperson for the SQ, Hugues Beaulieu. Divers are forced to use a crane in order to cross the guardrail and get into the water, he explained. So that’s very, very uncommon. Walkers who travel along the banks must be extremely careful because as we know, it is ice at this time of year. We also have the support of the helicopter, so it is currently an important search structure which is hard at work to find the little girl.
A command post is in place and an SQ helicopter is participating in the search. An investigation is underway to establish the causes and circumstances of what happened.
