Lithuania will purchase various types of drones from Baltic manufacturers for 36 million euros

Defense Resources Agency under The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense has signed contracts for the purchase of various types of drones worth almost 36 million euros.

As European Pravda writes, the department’s press service reports this.

Speech, in in particular, we are talking about small reconnaissance drones from the Latvian company Edge Autonomy and reconnaissance mini-drones from the Estonian company Threod Systems, as well as Lithuanian quadcopters from UAB Deftools.

The vast majority of the drones should be delivered this fall, the rest – at the beginning of 2025.

These purchases are being carried out urgently to strengthen the potential of drones and their speedy integration into the Lithuanian armed forces, notes the Ministry of Defense.

"Until 2030, to purchase all Types of unmanned systems provide about 200 million euros. On average, it is planned to spend 30 million euros per year,” – says the press release.

Earlier, Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasciunas said that the need to purchase anti-drone equipment is now being assessed.

Before this, Lithuania launched the first course for training instructors in the use of FPV -drones.

Kasciunas also expressed hope that the country will be able to conclude contracts for the purchase of additional long- and short-range air defense systems during the summer.
