Lithuania will hold a cycle of military exercises with the participation of more than 20 thousand soldiers – Armed Forces

In April-June, a cycle of military exercises will be held in Lithuania, in which more than 20 thousand will take part Lithuanian and allied soldiers, the Armed Forces of Lithuania reported on April 16.

"The aim of the exercises is to check the NATO regional defense plans approved at the Vilnius Summit, to ensure the rapid redeployment of forces from one country to another and to demonstrate a clear signal to the enemy about the firm determination and commitment of NATO members to collective defense", – the Lithuanian military informs.

According to the commander of the Armed Forces of Lithuania, General Valdemaras Rupšis, these exercises will be one of the largest during the period of the country's independence.

«This is a long-planned military training of Lithuania and its allies , which reflects the direct obligation of the army to train and be ready, – said Rupshis.

On April 21-26, joint field tactical exercises of Lithuania and Poland with the aviation element “Brave Griffin 24/II” will take place, in which allies from the United States of America (USA) and Portugal will also take part.

From April 22 to May 10, one of the largest national exercises will take place, during which the Lithuanian Armed Forces and all state institutions will train for the transition from peace to war, according to the website of the Armed Forces.

From April 19 to 24, the exercises will be held in Lithuania by the US armed forces in the central and eastern parts of Europe. About 600 American soldiers and 120 units will take part in them.

Also, on April 23, large-scale exercises of the German Bundeswehr will begin, for which more than 3,000 German soldiers and 200 units of military equipment will be redeployed, including Leopard tanks, BMPs. "Puma" and “Boxer”.

On June 4-20, the largest NATO exercise in the Baltic Sea, “Baltops 2024”, will be organized. They are aimed at preparing maritime security in the region.
