Lithuania wants to cooperate with the Italian defense company Leonardo

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Economy of Lithuania met with the head of the Italian defense-industrial and aerospace corporation Leonardo Stefan Pontecorvo and discussed the company's opportunities to invest in Lithuania.

Ministers Gabrielus Landsbergis and Aushrine Armonaite presented to the head of Leonardo the recently adopted laws aimed at facilitating the activities of the defense industry in Lithuania, which make it possible to facilitate the development of large projects important for of national security.

Lansbergis offered Leonardo to take advantage of the favorable conditions and legal framework created for the Lithuanian defense industry.

For her part, Armonaite emphasized that the ministry is open to cooperation and welcomes new potential investors in the country .

The ministers also discussed the cooperation of Lithuanian enterprises with the Leonardo group of companies.

Leonardo – one of the largest machine-building holdings in Italy. The structural divisions of the holding fulfill orders in the fields of defense, energy, helicopter construction, telecommunications and transport.

The company's activities are related, in particular, to the production of missile systems, radars, control systems, communication systems, and electronics for aircraft and space vehicles, military aircraft, as well as regional civilian aircraft.

Let us remind you that on April 16, Lithuania signed a memorandum of understanding with the German defense concern Rheinmetall, which lays the foundation for the construction of an artillery ammunition factory in the country.

Rheinmetall is investing more than 180 million euros in the construction of an ammunition production plant in Lithuania.
