Like a jacket: you will definitely like this Volkswagen car seat

Volkswagen ID .3 GTX/Volkswagen

You have probably heard about the GTI Meeting, dedicated to fans of the sporty compact model. This tradition has its roots in the early 1980s, when the annual event was held in Werthersee, before moving to Wolfsburg in 2024.

Volkswagen is trying to create a similar tradition with the all-electric ID.3 GTX with ID. Meeting in Locarno, Switzerland. This year, the company built the only car that combines two types of hot hatchbacks, writes Motor1.

ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice is a tribute to the second generation Golf Fire and Ice, of which 16,700 units were produced. Due to the high demand, VW had to increase production compared to the initial run of 10,000 copies. The 1990s special edition was sold in various trims, one of which was based on the GTI. Like the original, the EV is a collaboration between the automaker and Munich clothing brand Bogner.

While the three-layer paint finish with special glass beads is the main highlight, something else caught our attention. Step inside and you'll think thefront seats have built-in jackets. Pull the zipper down to reveal another upholstery reminiscent of the fabric used in Golf Fire and Ice decades ago. The seats are by far the coolest thing about the interior, as everything else is standard ID.3 business: a large tablet sticking out of the dash and minimal traditional switchgear.

VW tried spice things up by placing fire and ice logos on the accelerator and brake pedals, respectively. The normal ID.3 has play and pause icons. The fire and ice theme is emphasized by a combination of red and blue accents, as well asFire + Ice laser engraving throughout the cockpit. This ID.3 GTX will remain a one-of-a-kind car as there are no plans for a limited special edition.

The non-US ID.3 may not make it to the second generation, as VW is already hinting that the electric Golf Mk9 will take its place in the lineup. Ironically, the ID.3 replaced the e-Golf a few years ago.

Earlier this year, the company's director of technical development, Kai Grünitz, said: “We don't have enough space to have two or three different models that suit one customer. We've started working on an all-electric Golf. We have concrete ideas about what it will look like, but we'll see how the market develops.” near the end of the decade, while the current gas model could last until 2035. If this happens, VW will be selling two different generations of the Golf for several years.
