The long-awaited duel between LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo turned in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers star, who led his team to a 113-106 victory over the Bucks on Thursday night in Milwaukee.
James scored 34 points for the Lakers, while Antetokounmpo was the Bucks’ most productive player with 25 points. The latter managed a double-double by registering 12 rebounds.
While the home side took the lead 33-29 in the first quarter, the Lakers took advantage of the second period to set their pace and take the lead 63-57.
The last two quarters were more hotly contested, but the Lakers were able to resist the Bucks until the very end.
Thanks to this gain, the Lakers are now alone at the top of the Western Conference ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers. As for the Bucks, they still sit second in the East, behind the Philadelphia 76ers.
