Latvia conducts additional mobilization of border guards

State Border Service Latvia announced on Tuesday, August 15, the introduction of mobilization of its employees in order to strengthen control on the border with Belarus. This is stated in the message of the service.
The decision to mobilize border guards was made due to the "sharp increase in the hybrid threat on the Latvian-Belarusian border over the last day", during which 96 cases of illegal crossing were recorded border between Latvia and Belarus.
Also, the State Border Service of Latvia noted that the Belarusian authorities are strengthening their role in organizing the illegal flow of migrants, there is evidence of an increased risk of the threat.
