The 87-year-old man died at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on Saturday, where he was admitted a few weeks after contracting the coronavirus.
However, his wife Shawn King told Entertainment Tonight in an interview that he rather died from an infection.
“It was an infection, it was sepsis,” she said. He was finally ready to go. You know, he never wanted to go, but he’s been hit by a lot of things several times. When we heard the word COVID, it broke our hearts. ”
And yet, it was not the virus that prevailed.
“He had beaten COVID, but the disease took its toll. And then an unrelated infection finally took it away. He wasn’t going to let himself get carried away that easily, however, ”says Ms. King.
Shawn King is grateful that she was able to meet with the father of her two children via video conference before he passed away.
“We were able to do a FaceTime. It was difficult for him to speak, but he wanted to send me a message. He said ‘I love you, take care of the children,’ she continues.
Despite divorce proceedings started in August 2019, the woman maintained that they were “partners” until the end.
“We never finalized our divorce. In my heart, I didn’t believe it was going to happen, and it never did. We were partners in every sense of the word, in business, but first and foremost within our family, ”says Shawn King.
