In the municipality of Matanzas in western Cuba, a lightning strike caused a large-scale fire in one of the oil storage tanks. The fire killed one person and injured 120 others,&nbsp ;reports Reuters.

The flame originated in a tank with a capacity of 50,000 tons of oil, which was half full by the time the lightning struck. .

Firefighters are trying to cool the damaged tank to prevent the fire from spreading. The country's authorities have asked for help from neighboring countries, in particular Mexico and Venezuela.

According to preliminary data, known about one dead, 121 injured and 17 missing. Among the victims – five are in critical condition, three – in serious condition. More than 1,300 people were evacuated from the danger zone

By the way, Cuban Energy Minister Nicolas Arronte Cruz was injured during the fire. He was at the scene when the flame spread to the second oil tank , causing explosions, and was injured.
