Called to the podium of the temporary amphitheater located in front of the Capitol, the New York artist presented herself with a dress with a sober black tight-fitting top with shoulder pads, but a puffy and ample red skirt, with a train.
The whole was enhanced with a voluminous brooch in the shape of a dove worn on the chest and a braid plated on the top of the head and mixed with a black ribbon.
The dress is the work of the Parisian house Schiaparelli. “As an American living in Paris, this ensemble is a love letter to a country that I miss terribly and to a singer whose artistry I have long admired,” the artistic director of Schiaparelli, the American Daniel Roseberry.
Just before going on stage, Lady Gaga had promised, on Twitter, to “sing to the hearts of all those who live in this country”, making a wish to work for the gathering of a deeply divided nation.
