The legislator Lady Camones (Alliance for Progress) becomes the new president of Congress. She is accompanied on the Board of Directors for the period 2022-2023 by Martha Moyano (Fuerza Popular), Digna Calle (Podemos) and Wilmar Elera (Somos Perú), in the first, second and third vice presidencies, respectively.
Camones won in the second round the list headed by Esdras Medina (Popular Renovation) and made up of Waldemar Cerrón (Perú Libre), Ilich López (Popular Action) and Katy Ugarte (Block Teachers).

Congress reported that the plenary election session It will be in person by means of ballot papers.
According to article 12 of the Regulations of the Congress, these are the steps of the election:
a) After reading the lists of candidates, the Board of Directors invites two congressmen to act as tellers and monitor the normal development of the electoral act. The ballot papers will be signed by the scrutineers and immediately distributed. Immediately afterwards, the president suspends the session for a few minutes so that the parliamentarians can fill out the ballots.
b) Once the session is reopened, the president of Congress casts her vote in the ballot box, followed by the other members of the the Table and the scrutinizing congressmen; the others are immediately invited, in alphabetical order, to deposit their ballot papers.
c) Once the call to vote is over, the scrutiny is carried out, vote by vote, aided by the counting congressmen.
d) Once the scrutiny is over, the candidates on the list are proclaimed elected members of the Board of Directors that has managed to obtain a number of votes equal to or greater than the simple majority of concurrent congressmen.
If no list obtains a simple majority, a second vote will be held, following the same procedure, between the two lists with the highest number of votes, proclaiming the candidates from the list that obtains the most votes.
e) The elected candidates are then sworn in and assume their duties immediately.
f) The The result of the election is officially communicated to the President of the Republic and to the other heads of the Supreme Court of Justice, the Constitutional Court, the National Elections Jury, the Office of the Prosecutor of the Nation, the Office of the Ombudsman, and the authorities regional and provincial municipal ials of the country.
