Kyiv Polytechnic received new supercomputer equipment

The KPI Situation Center, which is engaged in the analysis of big data in the economic, social and military spheres of Ukraine, received special equipment for a supercomputer.

Supercomputer equipment provides for an increase in the number of seats and processor systems up to 167. At the same time, the total number of cores will be increased from 16 to 40. And the total number of cores in the supercomputer will be 3198 with a RAM of 31 TB, KPI said. execution of strategic tasks in the planning of special operations, which will make it possible to bring victory closer, and for our military to facilitate and improve the quality of combat missions, — Vadim Kondratyuk, vice-rector for administrative work of KPI, noted.

Powerful equipment will enable KPI members to create new large-scale start-up projects not only within Ukraine, but also jointly with the governments of other countries. &nbsp ;

«We plan that this new cluster equipment will be included in the National grid-infrastructure of Ukraine and also in the European grid-infrastructure. This will allow us to distribute parallel computing tasks not within this one cluster,but to distribute them to all those clusters that are part of National or European network, and this will significantly expand our capabilities», — explained Kostyantyn Yefremov, director of the KPI World Data Center. 

This powerful supercomputer’equipment is a charitable donation from the University of Sheffield,  Great Britain.
