Kyiv notary “remotely” forged over 2,000 documents

A group led by one of the notaries of the Kyiv City Notary District was exposed in Kyiv, which forged official documents.

The perpetrators were engaged in forging powers of attorney, wills and other notarial documents. They also “helped” to issue ownership rights to inheritance for persons who did not have legal grounds for doing so.

One of the notaries of the Kyiv City Notary District was abroad from the end of 2022 to 2024. However, he did not stop his activities in Ukraine.

The organizer of the scheme monitored the work of his office through video cameras and ordered his subordinates to issue documents on his behalf, using his electronic signature, special forms and seals. Subordinates, in particular, forged powers of attorney and wills, entered false information into state registers, including the Unified Register of Notarial Documents and the Register of Powers of Attorney.

In total, the perpetrators produced over 2,000 forged documents.

Investigators have charged the organizer and four of his accomplices with forging official documents and interfering with the work of the information and communication system. They face up to 15 years in prison with a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years.
