Poland will produce Korean K2 tanks

South Korean K2 tanks will be produced on the territory of Poland. Seoul will transfer relevant technologies in the field of the defense-industrial complex to Warsaw.

This was stated during the Polish-South Korean strategic forum in Warsaw by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysh, who was quoted by the Ministry of National Defense of Poland on the X network, Ukrinform reports.

“Thank you for the South Korean side's decision to transfer technologies for the Polish defense complex. It has already been confirmed that we will produce K2 tanks in Poland”, Kosiniak-Kamysh said.

At the forum, the Polish Deputy Prime Minister announced that with colleague Shin Won Sik agreed on the schedule of joint actions and the implementation of joint contracts related to the purchase of weapons for the Polish army. These are, first of all, K2 tanks, K9 self-propelled guns, FA-50 aircraft, K239 jet artillery systems.

He emphasized that Poland also wants to become a regional hub for the repair of South Korean equipment, which will be purchased by other European countries, in particular Romania.

Kosiniak-Kamysh informed that South Korea also previously agreed to buy Polish-made weapons from Warsaw.

As you know, in the previous two years, Poland signed multimillion-dollar procurement contracts with South Korea almost a thousand K2 tanks, more than 600 K9 self-propelled artillery installations and about 300 K239 self-propelled guns, as well as 48 FA-50 fighters. Poland has already started receiving weapons under these contracts, including K2 tanks and K9 self-propelled guns.
