Chinese company DeepSeek has launched a free chatbot based on artificial intelligence. At the same time, installing such an application on a smartphone creates security threats for users.
This was stated by cybersecurity expert Konstantin Korsun on Ranok.LIVE on Wednesday, January 29.
Threats from DeepSeek
“The so-called AI is used in the format of an application that is installed on your phone. And each such application, especially of Chinese origin, is a new field of threats. As soon as you download and install it, it determines the make and model of the phone, the operating system version, the screen resolution, the browser version and many more parameters that are simply necessary for correct installation on smartphones”, — said Korsun.
According to the expert, Chinese applications are known for collecting much more information. Therefore, in the US, a court recognized Tik Tok as a national threat, and in most European countries, Chinese applications are generally prohibited for use on official devices. He is convinced that any Chinese application on a phone is certainly a threat.
And an application that performs the function of AI — is many times more dangerous. Korsun said that one of the Western articles explicitly states that DeepSeek identifies weak spots in protection, such as some OS vulnerabilities, or loopholes in the security system of a corporate organization.
“But this Chinese solution has an interesting solution: it offers a free version for download that you can install on your server,” — the cybersecurity expert added.
