The Cyber Police of the Kharkiv Region exposed a fraudster who profited from selling cars for the Armed Forces
A Kharkiv resident deceived people by selling non-existent cars for the needs of the Armed Forces, the amount of losses reaches hundreds of thousands of hryvnias.
This was reported by the Communications Department of the Main Police Department in the Kharkiv Region.
The Cyber Police of the Kharkiv Region detained a 23-year-old Kharkiv man who organized a fraudulent scheme related to the sale of cars for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The man, who was not officially employed, placed ads on popular platforms for the sale of cars at attractive prices. The condition for the purchase was a subscription to his bank card.
The fraudster communicated with potential buyers via messengers on social networks, demonstrating persuasiveness and a professional approach. But as soon as the money arrived in his account, the ad disappeared, and the buyers lost the opportunity to contact the seller.
According to law enforcement, the attacker managed to deceive at least 8 people, receiving UAH 10-100 thousand from them each. After each successful scam, the man created new ads, changing the make and model of the car.
The fraudster has now been arrested and his activities have been suspended. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are urging citizens to be cautious when making online purchases, especially when it comes to large sums of money and subscriptions.
