Murder charges were laid Monday in Ontario against a Toronto-area man previously accused of counseling and assisting suicide.

Kenneth Law allegedly mailed packages containing sodium nitrite, a potentially toxic substance, to vulnerable people.

According to court documents, 14 counts of second-degree murder were filed. These could, however, be aggravated, depending on the progress of the investigation.

Peel Regional Police will hold a conference on Tuesday press for an update on the investigation.
