Katya Chilly presented her debut album “Mermaids in da House” on streaming

Ukrainian singer Katya Chilly released her first album “Mermaids in da House” on streaming. Its original release took place in 1998 on cassettes, and the LP was not officially released in digital format.

Announcing the release on her Telegram channel, Katya Chilly said that she thought about releasing the album on platforms in her old age, however, she decided [to do it] a little earlier.

Katya recorded the album “Rusalki in da House” in 1996 in Kyiv, and completed work on it the same year in Poland. Composer Serhiy Smetanin was responsible for arranging, mixing and mastering.

For me, “Mermaids in da House” is primarily my youth. My story and the great cultural and historical contexts of Ukraine at that time, and the young me with the stories around. It was. 28 years ago, – the singer wrote.

The peculiarity of the release was the combination of authentic Ukrainian folklore with electronics and experimental pop music.

Let us remind you that in 2017, Katya Chilli came out after a long lull, as a musical and public. She became a participant in the seventh season of “Voice of the Country”, and in 2020 was a contestant in the national selection for Eurovision.

In January 2024, Katya Chilli released the album “Dream” with 11 tracks recorded back in 2001. It was supposed to be the second LP of the singer.
