As a soccer player, Juan Reynoso wore the shirts of Alianza Lima, Universitario de Deportes, Sabadel (Spain), Cruz Azul and Necaxa. In addition, he was captain of the Peruvian national team.

The last team that Juan Reynoso managed was Cruz Azul, a club with which he was champion of the League MX 2021. The Peruvian coach broke a 23-year drought without the Cement Machine being able to win the First Division tournament.

Before directing in Mexico, Juan had a long journey as a coach in Peruvian soccer. He started in Bolognesi and due to his good campaign with the Tacna team, he went on to manage Universitario de Deportes, where he would win the national title in the 2009 season. The other title he won in Peru was with Melgar, winning the final against Sporting Cristal.
