The spokesperson for the Renovación Popular caucus, Jorge Montoya, asserted that so far his political group has decided not to support the Alliance for Progress (APP) ahead of the next election for the Board of Directors.

In dialogue with Canal N, he ruled out having knowledge of any agreement between factions so that the APP would lead Parliament after the departure of María del Carmen Alva.

“I am not aware of that agreement [between groups], I have not discussed it, I do not know what it refers to, they should say what they agreed on. We are not going to participate in any list ”, she said.

“Until now we will not support APP for the Board of Directors, for behaving in an undemocratic manner, we will not support it”, he added.

It should be noted that, days before, Montoya Manrique was in favor of Gladys Echaíz, who is part of the APP caucus, being the one to lead Parliament. So far no candidates have been formally presented to lead the next Board of Directors.

At another time, when asked about the refusal of President Pedro Castillo to appear before the Oversight Commission, legislator Montoya said that this adds grounds for a new vacancy motion.

“What he is doing is making a mockery of Congress, it must respond and be accountable, it must not be closed, we all believed that he was going to respond and this holds him more accountable. With this he buys time and continues lying. Everything adds up for the vacancy”, he asserted.
