References to smart labels from Apple appeared in the preliminary developer versions of iOS 13. You attach these to your own objects and can be located if lost. Many assumed it would be presented in autumn 2019 – but the AirTags did not announce it. Although many hints, leaks and even accessories appeared in 2020, Apple did not present the new product. The reasons behind the delay are so far unknown. Technical difficulties may have arisen and they wanted to avoid a similar debacle as with the AirPower Qi charging station – Apple announced it, but encountered obstacles in the further development that could not be overcome and AirPower buried it after numerous delays.
AirTags and iPad Pro in MarchWell-known leaker Jon Prosser now wants Experienced have that Apple is planning two announcements for March:
The AirTags should now finally be presented to the public, together with new models of the iPad Pro. Prosser very reliably predicted the announcement of the 2nd generation iPhone SE and an update of the iMac – but the AirTags were wrong. Fall 2020 passed without any announcement of the Apple labels.
iPad Pro with A14X?Apple last updated the iPad Pro range in March 2020 and used an A12Z instead of A12X processor.
The se differed only in an additional GPU core (8 instead of 7), otherwise the 7 nm processor was identical to its predecessor. Apple presented the iPad Pro with A12X back in 2018 and customers have so far waited in vain for an iPad Pro with A13 or A14.
The iPad Air received an update in autumn 2020 – and got an Apple A14 processor. It is still unclear which chip the new iPad Pro models will receive. However, it is very likely that the 2021 models will receive an extended A14 chip in a 5 nm production method and thus clearly overtake the other iPad models in terms of performance. At least at the moment, the current iPad Pro is not a particularly advisable purchase due to the aging processor. Interested parties are advised to wait for the next generation or to consider an iPad Air.
Macs in March too?At the moment the rumor mill assumes that Apple will also introduce further Macs with their own Apple processors in March. Specifically, many expect the presentation of a MacBook Pro 16 “and iMac with faster M-Chips. It is also possible that Apple will not plan the presentation until summer or even autumn.
