Streaming giant Netflix has bought the rights to broadcast The Favorite with Johnny Depp in France. The deal will help fund the actor's first feature role since his trial with ex-wife Amber Heard, as well as, he says, a wider boycott by Hollywood studios.
Depp will play in the film Louis XV. Maiven Le Besco (“My King”) is directing, and she will also play the role of Madame du Barry, the king’s mistress.
