US President Joe Biden is ready to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to discuss reducing the nuclear threat on the Korean Peninsula.
This was said by White House National Security Spokesman John Kirby in interview with Kyodo News.
We are ready to sit down and negotiate without preconditions.
According to him, North Korea has not yet responded positively to this proposal.
As you know, Kirby said this before the start of the US trilateral summit with the leaders of Japan and South Korea. The main point of discussion will be North Korea's nuclear capabilities.
It is noted that unlike his predecessor Donald Trump, who met with Kim Jong-un three times, the Biden administration seeks to make progress towards denuclearization through several channels involving official representatives .
South Korea's intelligence agency has detected signs that North Korea is preparing to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile. The publication notes that this coincides with the period of the summit, where the DPRK is not present.
BAGNET reminds that the USA introduced sanctions against companies involved in arms trade between Russia and DPRK.
