The last week of the FC Barcelona electoral campaign Xavi Hernández does not leave the loop. The candidates for the presidency of Barça that will be voted on next Sunday discussed the assets of the Barça club and especially regarding the sports organization chart in the second three-party debate organized by RAC1 and the Godó Group.
“I was thinking about whether Xavi would also lead the basketball in the candidacy of Font ”, Joan Laporta ironized. "I have also spoken with Xavi and I know that he wants to be a coach," Toni Freixa signed. And Víctor Font, who includes the figure of Xavi Hernández as general manager of his project, responded: “It is not an exclusive asset; it is the work you have done with our project. We have not improvised but we have created the sports structure with Xavi's opinion and we even have the squad planned for next season. ”
Laporta tried to turn Xavi's letter against Font himself:“ Don't be a Pharisee. You already said that Koeman would not continue and then you corrected yourself and Jordi Cruyff denied you too. You have had to continually rectify. Don't confuse the partner ”. Font complained that his rivals try to "discredit work done long ago", while pointing out to Laporta: "You cannot vote blindly. We have done our homework. ”
The former president, to whom his two opponents also reminded him that what he achieved sportively in his time as president“ will not happen again by magic, ”replied that if he does not yet name his plan sports is not to destabilize the team or coach Ronald Koeman.
Messi’s future was also discussed and the three applicants agree on the need for him to continue at Barça. Laporta, however, specified: "I am convinced that if another candidate wins, Messi will not stay at Barça." And, pointing to Freixa, he added: "He was not very happy with your performance as a manager." Freixa is the candidate who does not rule out differential signings and among them includes Haaland and Mbappé.
The debate kept a less tense tone than the first, held on Sunday during the World Congress of Supporters Clubs, and there was even some funny moment, especially at the beginning when Font and Laporta discussed the PowerPoint presentations in which the Catalan businessman showed his project. “While you were doing PowerPoint in Dubai we were winning the Champions”. Font reminded him that in 2003 PowerPoint presentations and the virtuous circle were two of the great assets of Laporta's victory.
