JNE registers 11 thousand 540 lists of candidates for Regional and Municipal Elections 2022

According to the electoral body, this number was reached at 11:59 p.m. yesterday, the deadline for registration of formulas and lists of candidates .

    JNE registers 11 thousand 540 lists of candidates for Regional and Municipal Elections 2022

    The National Election Jury (JNE) specified that presented 11,540 applications for the registration of formulas and lists of candidates to participate in the Regional and Municipal Elections 2022 on October 2, ending at 11:59 p.m. yesterday the deadline to carry out said procedure.

    In this way, the political organizations complied, within the term established in the electoral schedule, with presenting and registering the information indicated in the legal framework for the aforementioned elections.

    As recalled, the Plenary Session of the JNE agreed to extend the deadline for 72 hours (from Tuesday 14 to Friday 17), so that regional parties and movements can complete this procedure.

    The purpose of the extension was to provide the due guarantees so that citizens that make up the political groups that participated in the last internal elections (May 15 and 22), fully exercise their constitutional right to participate in the political life of the country.

    The candidacies presented are being evaluated, impartially, quickly and in accordance with the law, by the 93 Special Electoral Juries, in order to determine if they meet the legal requirements to participate in the Elections 2022.

    Next August 3 is the deadline for the JEE to publish all supported formulas and lists in the newspaper with the largest circulation in the district corresponding registration, in accordance with the electoral schedule approved by the JNE.
