Calgary Flames forward Dillon Dube will not be suspended by the National Hockey League for his blow to the face of Montreal Canadiens forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi on Saturday.
This is what journalist Renaud Lavoie indicated the next day.
Dube hit his Finnish rival near the net of the Habs in the second period of the game won 2-0 by the Alberta team. The victim must have missed a few minutes of play before returning to the ice for the third period. Following the streak, the referees did not penalize the Flames player and the Canadian captain, Shea Weber, was punished for trying to avenge Kotkaniemi.
The head coach of the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge, Claude Julien, also obviously did not appreciate Dube’s strike.
“It was pretty obvious to everyone,” he said, as reported by Le Journal de Montreal. I have nothing to add…”
