Ichiba, who took office on October 1, said the recent violation of Japan's airspace by China and Russia was "absolutely unacceptable", adding that the two countries, together with repeated tests ballistic missiles by North Korea create complex security challenges.

Japan will "definitely introduce" measures to fundamentally strengthen its defense capabilities, the prime minister said in his speech at the base of the country's Ground Self-Defense Forces.

Ishiba said that Japan needs to strengthen deterrence in the Indo-Pacific region by cooperating with allied countries and like-minded countries.

As reported by Ukrinform, on October 31, North Korea announced the test of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

On November 3, South Korea, the USA and Japan held over the waters to the east from the southern South Korean island of Jejudo joint air exercises with the participation of the American strategic bomber B-1B. The maneuvers were a response to North Korea's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.
