Just a few hours ago, we shared with you these rumors about a brand new video game about the Dark Knight that is currently in production, a project that should particularly please fans of the latest film by Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman. Unfortunately, one of the bosses of DC Studios recently dashed the fans' hopes on this subject.

Bad news for fans of The Batman

As the figurehead of the DC universe, the Batman character has become a real franchise in its own right, the adventures of the famous Gotham City vigilante having been declined in many ways since his debut in comics in 1939. We will think in particular of the cinematic adaptations, but also of the multiple cartoons, without forgetting of course the video games.

Because the fact is that the games centered on the Dark Knight are extremely popular, as evidenced by the many titles featuring the DC hero released in recent years, in particular the Batman: Arkham series. The success of the license is such that a newcomer is due to arrive this year, namely Batman: Arkham Shadow, which fans recently got a new preview of thanks to a new gameplay sequence revealed at Gamescom 2024.

Furthermore, as mentioned at the beginning of the article, rumors about a new game set in the universe of The Batman were starting to circulate online. Unfortunately for fans of Pattinson's Caped Crusader, the rumors in question were recently denied by James Gunn himself, one of the bosses of DC Studios. Indeed, it is on Threads that the director, as usual, answered the fans who asked him about this topic, stating that there were no plans for a game set in the universe of the 2022 film.

The American director also took the opportunity to address another rumor about another highly anticipated DC Universe (DCU) project, namely the upcoming Superman movie. Gunn explained that someone had told him about a rumor circulating on Reddit, that the music 'Tubthumping' by the British band Chumbawamba had been heard on the set of the film. Because fans of the director of the Guardians of the Galaxy saga are often eager to know the music chosen for the soundtracks of these films.

No doubt many are curious to see what Gunn has in store for them regarding the return of the Man of Steel to the big screen, whose theatrical release is normally scheduled for July 2025.
