Italy began the process of phasing out Russian gas
Italy may completely abandon Russian gas by 2025 thanks to supplies from Algeria, Claudio Descalzi, CEO of the largest Italian oil and gas company Eni, said on the sidelines of the visit of Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, Italian ANSA reports.
Algeria annually increases gas supplies to Italy. In particular, Italy received 21 billion cubic meters of gas in 2021, and 25 billion in 2022, and plans to receive 28 billion cubic meters of gas in 2023.
"Forecast for refusing Russian gas supplies to Italy? I am positive that in the winter of 2024/2025, I would say that if things continue like this, things will go in the right direction,” commented Claudio Descalzi.
