The popular ski resort of Roccaraso, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, has imposed restrictions on tourists after a surge in visitors prompted by a TikTok video and cheap tickets.
As reported by “European Truth”, this is stated in the publication of The Guardian.
Last Sunday, January 26, Roccaraso unexpectedly received more than 10,000 visitors from Naples and the neighboring Campania region for 260 buses.
Day-trippers have been influenced by Neapolitan TikToker Rita de Crescenzo, who posted a video and several photos from the resort to her 1.7 million followers, and by travel agencies offering discounted day-trip bus tours to Roccaraso.
Roccaraso Mayor Francesco Di Donato said the ski resort has had particularly busy days before, but had never seen such an influx of tourists as last Sunday.
He has limited the number of tour buses that can enter the town on Saturdays and Sundays to 100, and has required travel agencies that organize tours to Roccaraso to book in advance. hotels.
De Crescenzo herself denied responsibility for the influx of tourists to the resort and promised to return there next Sunday, February 2, with even more people.
Other Italian cities that suffer from excessive numbers of visitors – not necessarily because of TikTok – have also adopted measures to curb tourism, such as Florence.
It should also be recalled that in some countries there are calls to ban TikTok due to its links to China.
