It's not profitable for Lukashenka to attack Ukraine, he has other goals - expert

Lukashenko won't go to a direct confrontation with Ukraine, but optimizes provocative actions at the borders.

Such an opinion on the air of the Espresso TV channel said the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service in 2005-2010, Army General of Ukraine Nikolai Malomuzh.

“The task of Belarusians is to keep most of the Ukrainian troops on the territory of our state near the borders of Belarus. Russia uses its divisions from the position of Belarus, airfields. Belarus provides all the means to Russia to carry out aggression against Ukraine. Lukashenka is trying not to enter into a direct war because the military is not ready to engage in military operations. This is a threat to the Lukashenka regime. Lukashenka shows Putin that he performs an important function in the interests of Russia: to keep several tens of thousands of military personnel, equipment and weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which could operate in the Luhansk, Donetsk direction, or attack in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya directions,” explained Malomuzh.

Malomuzh noted that this does not suit Putin.

“Lukashenko was summoned to Putin today to carry out a task in order to motivate offensive operations to protect the western borders of Belarus. I think that Lukashenka will not go into direct confrontation with Ukraine, but will optimize provocative actions at the borders. This forces Ukraine to keep most of the weapons, equipment and special forces”, & ndash; emphasized Malomuzh.
