More about “La Palisade”:

“La Palisade” is Philip Sotnichenko's full-length debut. Previously, the short films “Nail” and “Technical break” were noted in the work of this director.

The events of the film take place in Ukraine in 1996 strong> – a few months before the signing of Protocol No. 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights. This document abolished the death penalty, which has been operating since Soviet times. Before that, our state had one of the highest rates in the world in terms of the number of death sentences.

The detective was created in the style of post-Soviet noir, that is, in an atmosphere of pessimism and mistrust. Despite this, the director managed to insert family values and a little humor into the depressive state of the characters, even though it was ironic.

The film won an award from the International Film Press Federation on 52 International Film Festival in Rotterdam. And also became the winner in the nomination “Best feature film” at the 28th International Film Festival in Vilnius Kino Pavasaris.
