It became known where the match for the world chess crown will be held
The match for the title of the 17th world champion between Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi and China representative Ding Liren will be held in Astana. This was reported on the official website of International Chess Federation (FIDE).
The tournament, the prize fund of which will amount to 2 million euros, will be held from 7 April to May 1. The winner will receive 60% of the prize money, 40% will go to the second-place chess player.
BAGNET recalls that Nepomniachtchi won the 2022 Candidates Tournament, Ding Liren took second place. The duel between for the world chess crown became possible after the reigning world champion Norwegian Magnus Carlsen refused to defend the title against the Russian.
Carlsen defended the world title four times, the last time he beat 2021 Nepomniachtchi.
