Israel's army says it has killed another Hezbollah commander

An Israeli Air Force fighter jet killed Hezbollah Nasser missile unit commander Jafar Khader Faur and a drone unit commander in a targeted strike on the Juaya region in southern Lebanon, the IDF said in a statement, Voice of America reported.

Faur was responsible for terrorist attacks launched from eastern Lebanon, where he commanded the first rockets fired into Israeli territory on October 8. Faur planned numerous terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.

As the commander of the Nasser Unit's rocket complex, Faur was responsible for numerous rocket attacks on the Golan Heights from his area, killing Israeli civilians.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, November 2, a strike on the central Israeli city of Tire injured at least 11 people.

The pre-dawn attack on the predominantly Arab Israeli city of Tyre was one of several rockets fired from Lebanon earlier in the day. Many of the shells were intercepted by Israeli air defenses, but some landed in sparsely populated areas.

People were injured by falling debris and glass from a city building, the Israel Ambulance Service said. Three were in moderate condition, while the others suffered lighter injuries.

CCTV footage showed extensive damage to the roof and top floor of the three-story building, as well as to cars parked underneath.

The Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on the Israeli military base Unit 8200 Glilot on the outskirts of Tel Aviv and an attack on the Palmachim airbase in central Israel using explosive-laden drones, saying they “carried out precise strikes on the targets.”

The Israeli military has not confirmed that either base was attacked.

Hezbollah said the dawn rocket attack on Saturday on Glilot was in retaliation for “mass murder” committed by Israel. It is likely that the statement was related to the strike on Tire, which is about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Glilot.

The attacks early Saturday could be a harbinger of preparations for a more serious strike on Israel.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday threatened Israel and the United States with punitive retaliation for the IDF strikes on Iran and its allies on Oct. 26 that targeted Iranian military bases and other targets.

“The enemies, whether the Zionist regime or the United States of America, will definitely receive a crushing response to what they are doing to Iran, the Iranian nation and the resistance front,” Khamenei said in a video released by Iranian state media.

A further attack by Iran, which has already carried out two direct attacks on Israel this year, could push the entire Middle East into a more large-scale conflict.
